Ever since September of last semester, the newly formed Sports Management Club of Florida Southern College has been working on an event to bring together the school of FSC, the Lakeland community, and those wishing to have a good laugh as well as to get together for a good cause.
Men's Team The Florida Southern College men's golf team fought for a share of second place in the Ron Smith Invitational on March 2. They shot a combined team score of 284, four strokes under par, on the final day to tie Marquette for second place. The tournament featured 16 Division I schools and two Division II schools.
On Saturday, March 8, the Florida Southern College baseball team got a little revenge on last year's NCAA champion and long-time rival University of Tampa Spartans. In a doubleheader, FSC won 7-5 and 4-3 victories, providing the third ranked team with two critical defeats.
The dream season for the Florida Southern College men's basketball team came to a crushing end Saturday night as the top seeded Moccasins were upset by the eighth seeded Ouachita Baptist Tigers. The Mocs started slow from the beginning, falling into a 9-0 hole in the first 5 minutes of the game.
On Tuesday, March 4, the Florida Southern College Lady Mocs basketball team saw their season come to a close in Winter Park against Rollins College. The game ended with a score of 72-53, sending FSC back to Lakeland with a final record of 15-13 and a 7-9 record against Sunshine State Conference opponents.
The Florida Southern College men's tennis team opened at home after spring break against Michigan Tech with a strong win. With season debuts in singles from freshmen J.J. Bolock, Brian DeMontfort, Clifford Johnson and sophomore Ray Duyungan as well as a doubles debut from junior Greg Heartt, FSC's men won the match 9-0.
Florida Southern College's softball team has continued their strong start to this season. Their six-game winning streak was extended to eight after two wins against Bryant University. These two wins upped the team's record to 16-3 for the season. The team was led by starting pitchers, junior Brittany Minton and sophomore Heidi Schumacher in these two wins.
