The Florida Southern chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi's newest fundraiser, War of the Roses, was successful with a week full of competitive fun. Lambda Chi Alpha came out on top to take first place in the competition.

During the week leading up to fall break, AOTT hosted nightly events to bring out competition between the seven participating sororities and fraternities while raising funds to support their philanthropy, The Arthritis Foundation.

The week began with a banner contest to see which Greek organization could be the most supportive of AOTT's efforts. Zeta Tau Alpha took the early lead for the week by winning this first event.

The second night's event was Race for the Rose, which consisted of field games ranging from solving a puzzle to a crab walk race. Lambda Chi won this event.

The following night was Ruby Relay. Each team was given a riddle that led them to their next clue, which led to another clue and so on. There were teams running all over the campus to find the clues.

The week concluded with the Decade Dance Off where teams picked a popular song from a past decade and performed their own dance to it while incorporating as much AOTT into their performance as possible.

That same night a penny war also took place. In a penny war, teams donate pennies to their own containers to increase their points, but if someone adds silver change to that jar, it deducts the amount. For example, if someone adds 25 pennies to their jar, but another team adds a quarter, the amounts cancel out. Senior Dan Port and junior Paul Copenhagen of Theta Chi donated more than $125 in pennies. Sigma Alpha Epsilon won the dance-off and Theta Chi took penny wars.

The overall winners of the week were Lambda Chi Alpha, and Theta Chi took a close second. The week proved to be success for all participants that had the opportunity to enjoy the events, for AOTT, and for The Arthritis Foundation.

"The sisters and I were so happy with the outcome of this event that we will being having it every year now!" said sophomore Amanda Inman, the coordinator for War of the Roses.
