Towards the start of the planning, group members were unsure of how easy it would be to find volunteers for the game;
however, faculty and the Lakeland community jumped on the chance to help out for something meant for a good cause.

"The age for the players ranges from literally 20 to 70," Higgins said with a smirk. "On a Sunday afternoon when there's not much else to do, we're hoping the school will respond well and come out."

The club is planning to hold silent auctions and raffles throughout the game. The prizes will include an autographed Joe Theisman football, four tickets to Disney World, and a free membership to Gold's Gym.

During halftime, Jimmy Valvano's ESPY Awards speech will be played in order to show the club's support for cancer research and the Foundation.

"We feel there's so much of a personal connection people can find to the Jimmy V. Foundation," Higgins said. "Unfortunately, it's hard not to go throughout life without seeing just how much of an effect this disease has in our world."

When asked hard they have worked for the game, Higgins replied, "We've made fliers, posters, made phones calls, sent emails, everything. This has kept us busy, but we think it will be well worth it."

The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at Jenkins Field House on Sunday, March 30. Tickets at the door go on sale at 2 p.m. Those wanting to buy ticket before the day of the game can contact Kelly Higgins at khiggens@flsouthern.edu. For students, tickets are $3, $5 for adults, and children 6 and under are free.
