Florida Southern College's softball team has continued their strong start to this season. Their six-game winning streak was extended to eight after two wins against Bryant University.
These two wins upped the team's record to 16-3 for the season. The team was led by starting pitchers, junior Brittany Minton and sophomore Heidi Schumacher in these two wins. Minton's win gave her nine on the season as she pitched six shutout innings while only giving up four hits. She also struck nine during the game.
Minton was later named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week on March 10, making her the first FSC softball player to receive an award from the SSC in 2008.
With Schumacher's sixth win on the season, she recorded five shutout innings.
On offense, FSC was helped by runs batted in from junior second baseman/shortstop Sara Lovestrand, senior outfielder Michelle Tatlock, sophomore third baseman/first baseman Elli Howell, freshman third baseman/shortstop Peggy Alex, freshman outfielder Lindsey Powell, junior outfielder Angela Williams and freshman catcher Tori Mosley.
FSC next plays March 25 at 6 p.m. versus Missouri-St. Louis in a doubleheader.
