Sigma Chi suffers defeat to Kappa Alpha

Intramural football took center stage this past week as two of the B League's best teams faced off Sunday at 1 pm. Sigma Chi B looked to get a jump on the postseason by completing a perfect regular season while Kappa Alpha B looked to rebound after two tough losses. By virtue of their sportsmanship points, both teams were a lock for the playoffs and these teams should not meet until the later rounds of the playoffs, if they advance, so the game had little significance, other than a 'glorified scrimmage.'
Sigma Chi's devastating pass attack was fueled by freshman quarterback Clive Curry's left arm. However, he was without his No. 1 weapon as senior wide receiver/running back Kyle Carmack missed the game due to illness. The team's defense surrendered their first points of the season, in suffering defeat 12-7.
On the other side of the ball, KA's pass defense was ranked among the best in the league entering the game and was led by freshman cornerback Willy Holobinka. In their last game, KA's passing game was non-existent in an overtime loss to the Dutch Masters B, but they were still a major force to be reckoned with now that their regular quarterback, freshman Nick Sharkey, will be under center this week.
Last week's quarterback, sophomore David Wright, showed off his running ability, scrambling for a score and converting on essential third and fourth downs and was used in the match-up versus Sigma Chi.
Both teams had been looking forward to this match-up all season and that added fuel to this friendly rivalry. The score was projected to be high and the trash talking was at a premium as these two Greek neighbors took the field.
