The first half of the season went well for the men's golf team, who only finished out of the top three once.
They started with a win in their season opener, the Coker Invitational, and followed that up with a second place finish at the Columbus College Invitational. They finished 14th at the Stanford Invitational before picking up a third place in the Rollins Invitational their last tournament of the fall.
In each of their division II tournaments the Mocs have had at least one individual finish in the top five. The Coker Invitational saw three Mocs in the top five as sophomore Jude Eustaquio finished second, junior Danny Evelyn finished third and junior Matt Stauch finished fifth. Eustaquio and Stauch followed with first and fifth place finishes respectively in the Columbus College Invitational, and Evelyn finished third in the Rollins Invitational.
The team's biggest weakness up to this point has been the play of its fifth man in each of its tournaments. The fifth man for the Mocs has come in 60th, 82nd, 83rd, and 65th respectively in each of the teams tournaments this year.
The Mocs first tournament of the spring will be the Matlock Classic, which is hosted by Florida Southern, on February 16-17. After that comes the South Florida Invitational on March 6-8, followed closely by Southeastern Invitational on March 15-17.
The Mocs then have to play again the following weekend at the Bobcat Invitational on March 23-24. They then have a break until the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on April 20-21, which they won last year. Then they have the NCAA Super Regional on May 4-6, and if they qualify the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament on 19-22.
