In Lagos, Nigeria, Africa's most populated nation, a goat was detained on suspicion of armed robbery.
A group of vigilantes on a patrol reported to local police that they saw several men trying to steal a car. When they were pursued, one robber escaped, while the other supposedly turned himself into a goat using black magic.
"We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody. We cannot base our information on something mystical," Tunde Mohammed, a Kwara police spokesman, said, according to Reuters.
It is true, however, that belief in witchcraft is widespread over Nigeria, according to Reuters. The goat has become a local celebrity, with residents coming to the jail cell to take pictures of the goat next to a straw pile.
