In the following issues I will be highlighting humorous news stories that have occurred around Lakeland.

Fifteen-year-old Jonathon Locke Jr., a student at the Bill Duncan Excel Center, was suspended from riding the bus to school after being accused of passing gas.

Locke told The Ledger that the trouble started Mar. 16 when a student sitting next to him made noises with his mouth at the same time that the bus was filled with a disgusting smell. At the time, Locke laughed at the situation.

When Locke boarded the bus the next day, he was handed a form from the bus driver that stated he had been suspended from riding on the bus. His father had to come pick him up from school, according to reports in the Ledger.

While there is no rule that specifically prevents flatulence on the bus, there is a rule that prevents disturbing the bus and the other riders.
