Halk, who is also the president of Kappa Delta sorority, is required to record the minutes at all SGA Senate and President's Circle and Executive Council meetings. She is also in charge of providing the agendas for all meetings as well as organizing the elections for SGA positions in the fall and spring semesters.

Halk has a lot of prior experience being as part of SGA. She has served as representative in the House for two years as well as recently serving as the vice president of community and public relations.

"I am interested in SGA because I enjoy representing the student body. It's a great way to be involved and to have a voice. I am a political science major so obviously it falls right in line with what I want to pursue," she added.

"I want to better our election process and to raise the percentage of students that vote on our campus. I wanted to raise SGA awareness and focus on serving the students," Halk said.

One position of SGA that has a unique requirement is the vice president of Student Activities. The student voted into this position automatically assumes the role of the president of Association of Campus Entertainment.

Newman became involved in SGA through her interest and involvement in ACE. She joined as a freshman and now as a junior she has been involved in different leadership roles within ACE.

"I have always loved ACE and enjoyed helping put on a variety of entertainment for the student body once a month," Newman said. "It is a difficult task, and if anyone visits the Bandshell, they probably have seen me running about either working on contracts, decorations, meeting with the members and executives, balancing the budget, etc."

Newman decided to run for another term as SGA vice president of student activities and ACE president in order to improve old programs and find new ones that will be entertaining and interesting to FSC students.

In her position, Newman is required to report to the Senate as well as the House for next year's President Circle about everything that ACE does as well as participating in all SGA meetings.
