Last year the Lady Mocs finished in second place with a 7-1 Sunshine State Conference record as Rollins took first. Although their record did not end in a championship manner they were able to travel the road to becoming SSC and NCAA champions.
The Lady Mocs have lost a few key players from previous seasons, but both returning and new players are determined to make this season more successful than ever before. One of the key factors in performing well this season is chemistry for all players.
"We have to replace some amazing players and we have to find the chemistry we had with them, with the new players our coach brought in," junior Ashlie Haas said.
Both returning and new players will be focusing on creating chemistry on the field that will lead to their ability to be able to understand one another's moves and attack and prevent attacks.
Starting goalkeeper is sophomore Martina Tangen Billing who established herself as one of the best SSC goalies with 82 saves - 13 during the SSC Tournament - and earning a spot on the all-tournament team. Back up goalies are freshmen Jordan Hutar and Kayla Wilhide.
Veterans holding down the defense are Haas, senior Renee Heacock, junior Kristen Vollmer and sophomores Lexi Bottomley and Morgan Wampler.
Haas started every game for the past two seasons and has helped the team in shutting down their opponents' offense with Heacock helping to lower the team's goals against average.
New players who may be called on to help with the defense include freshmen Kara Higdon, Morgan Sammons and Selena Mason.
The midfield will be full of versatile players who can adjust to fill in spaces they are needed. Returning midfielders are senior Therese Dahlskold, juniors Jackie Bachteler, Anna Ott, sophomores Hanna Jansson, Emily Griffith, Holly Bennett.
Newcomers to Lady Mocs' midfield are junior Adilene Alvarado and freshman Sydney O'Hair.
