The Florida Southern College Forensic team took fifth place overall at the Star Invitational at Florida State College at Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla against eight colleges and universities from all over the state of Florida and Texas.

The FSC Forensic team is comprised of 12 competitors that participated in eight out of the 11 individual events that the tournament offered. Out of the 11 events, FSC broke to finals in five of them.

Sophomore Megan Getter received fifth place in Impromptu speaking, senior Lacey Brown had a fourth place showing in Dramatic Interpretation. Also, Brown had a fifth place finish in Duo Interpretation with her partner, and senior, Krista Miller.

Miller walked away with a fifth place trophy in Prose Interpretation and won first place in After Dinner Speaking, which she was awarded a one-hundred dollar cash prize for her ADS performance.

"I was very surprised about my first place finish because the competition was so tough. A first place trophy is nice but one-hundred dollars in cash is even sweeter," Miller said.

This was the third and final speech tournament of the semester for FSC Forensics. They will be competing in seven different tournaments in the spring.
