Complaining about no complaints
A Southern View
Issue date: 2/19/10 Section: Opinion
Dearest Readers,
We at The Southern know you are more than capable of using a computer.
We also know you are more than capable of complaining. We know you often think the food in Wynee's is horrible, the parking horrendous, the gardens useless and the classes too difficult.
We won't even waste our time trying to explain the care FSC puts into making your food and researching what students want to eat, the reasoning that there is enough parking if people just parked correctly and walked to class, the fact that the gardens are donations and not a part of FSC's budget, or that you're in college -- a place much easier than the real world.
We hear you complaining all too much.
So, why have we not heard from you in regards to the paper?
We are not kidding ourselves. We know that you think The Southern has its flaws. We know that some of you probably hate it, or at least some of the stories found within the pages.
And unlike some people, we are capable of accepting criticism. We want to hear what you have to say.
Speak up and send us your grunts, gripes and groans about The Southern. You will be heard and your opinions will be respected.
To make our point even clearer: The Southern staff is reaching out to you, yes you, to share your thoughts with us.
And, if for some reason, you have nothing to complain about, we will help you out. We are a helpful sort of people.
The Southern's tagline is that we are "The Student Voice of Florida Southern College." Are we? Granted we may be a bit less apathetic than the general student body, but do we represent you?
Or, are we just "The Student Voice of the Few Engaged Students at Florida Southern College"? If you think so, then tell us-engage yourself-FSC will be so proud.
Not sure how to get "engaged"? Well pay attention in class to start with because that's what FSC is all about, but once again we will help you out.
Do you actually like what you see in the sections of the paper? Are you interested in the articles? The pictures? The graphics? Do you agree with what we have to say? Did we screw up any facts or leave anything important out? Tell us, please.
